Junior Web Designer

We’re a team of specialized experts, dedicated to first-class customer service and claims assistance. We’re looking for a Junior Web Designer to join this team, in our Richmond, BC office.

TuGo is privately owned with headquarters in Richmond, BC. We have over 170 employees in offices across Canada.

What you'll do

Summary
You will bring passion and motivation for web design. The focus of this position is on user interface/user experience design (page layout, usability, process design and content design) and user testing (talking to clients, both internally and externally to understand how they use our applications and sites. You will assist the intermediate designers in providing a superior user experience and improving user satisfaction

  • Create wireframes and high fidelity mock ups for website and mobile applications.
  • Create both high and low fidelity prototypes using tools such as Invision and/or Axure to assist in the development of sites and application.
  • Collaborate with mobile and web application developers on UI aspects.
  • Assist in the conduction of user testing labs and interviews to validate designs.
  • Participate in brainstorming and conducting research with a focus on improving the user experience.
  • Conduct user acceptance tests on developed applications to ensure that the application meets the design requirements and functions as expected.
  • Participate in bi-weekly sprint planning meetings as required.
  • Achieve performance targets.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and all other teams.
  • Responsively and effectively handle issues.
  • Look for ways to improve customer experience.
  • Promote and model TuGo culture, values, and brand promise.
  • Continuously build professional and technical expertise.
  • Other duties as required.

What you'll bring

  • Educational background in design or relevant work experience
  • Able to provide a portfolio demonstrating a high degree of design skill
  • Intermediate knowledge of design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Experience Design)
  • Working knowledge of HTML5/CSS3
  • Ability to product prototype using software such as Invision or Axure is considered an asset
  • Experience working with responsive design
  • Familiarity with agile development practices is considered an asset
  • Proven ability to execute and deliver project deliverables with high attention to detail
  • Produce clean and consistent work, adhering to design principles
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Comfortable working in both a Mac and Windows environment
  • A strong interest in current and upcoming web trends and technology
  • Experience developing for a mobile environment is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Strong team player and positive contributor
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
