TuGo Celebrates 50 Years of Milestones

(Richmond, BC, Feb 26, 2014) - TuGo, one of Canada’s top travel insurance providers, celebrates 50 years in business today. Patrick Robinson, President & CEO, attributes the company’s success to its strategic partnerships and a belief that the experience those partners and travellers have, is what defines its success.

“For half a century, we’ve been dedicated to providing better travel experiences for Canadians,” Robinson shares. “Thanks to the strong relationships we have with our partners, we can continue this tradition for many years to come. I’d like to thank our partners for their continued loyalty and trust in us.”

Founded by Herb and Georgina Robinson in 1964, TuGo, originally Travel Underwriters’, rich history lies in its industry innovations. In the 1960s, TuGo was the first Canadian company to launch missed flight insurance. The following decade, it introduced another innovation, annual excess emergency hospital/medical insurance. By the early 1990s, the company was offering its product to the public through insurance brokers across the country. Following that, Travel Underwriters was one of the first to sell travel insurance online. A continuing passion for moving the category into the future has fu TuGo's long-term viability and success.

Today, the company has a bilingual, national presence with satellite offices across Canada and in Mexico, and is one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. In the past 50 years, TuGo has grown from a staff of two to a team of over 170. One thing that hasn’t changed is the team’s passion for innovation.

TuGo's future lies in continuing to create better experiences; helping its partners build their businesses and helping Canadians travel the world with confidence.
