DevOps Engineer

TuGo’s Enterprise Systems department builds innovative software solutions using modern and leading edge computing technologies to support customer facing solutions, organization wide processes and information flows, data analysis and reporting. As part of the team, you’ll play an active role in contributing creative and fresh ideas, working with experienced developers and designers who love solving complex requirements.

What you'll do

This role will have special focus on promoting DevOps model to increase operations and development teams productivity through well-orchestrated automated services in various stages of continuous integration and continuous delivery.You are also responsible for supporting our Oracle database systems, as well as supporting our JBoss Middleware and Linux systems.

  • Lead the effort to design and architect a cloud environment that supports continuous delivery.
  • Work and communicate with other teams to bridge the gaps and bring consistency in the deployments and builds.
  • Containerize TuGo development and create a build pipeline.
  • Work with developers on systems architecture improvements including microservices and bring improvements to overall DevOps operations.
  • Backup support systems administration across on prem and cloud infrastructure including VM ware, databases, backups, storage, firewall and cloud
  • Maintain and update installation and configuration processes and documentation.
  • Administer Linux systems for development, test and production.
  • Improve monitoring and help identify key performance metrics.
  • Write tools and scripts to provide automation and self-services solutions for other teams.
  • Monitor application usage, anticipate problems and suggest solutions for customer issues.
  • Achieve performance targets.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and all other teams.
  • Responsively and effectively handle issues.
  • Look for ways to improve customer experience.
  • Promote and model TuGo culture, values, and brand promise.
  • Continuously build professional and technical expertise.
  • Other duties as required.

What you'll bring

  • A degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant systems administration with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or DevOps experience
  • Experience with building CI/CD automation solutions
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate clearly and design and solve technical challenges
  • Solid understanding of current web and internet technologies like Apache, Nginx, Couchbase/MongoDB and Elasticsearch, Kafka, Oracle, Mysql
  • Scripting skills with Gradle, Bash, Ruby, Python or other dynamic language
  • Experience with Java application servers and JVM tuning
  • Experience with Puppet, Chef, Ansible or other configuration management tool
  • Virtualization experience, VMWare 5.x, VSphere
  • AWS and/or Azure administration experience
  • Experience with application monitoring software, in particular New Relic
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot system and network problems
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Strong team player and positive contributor
